Ford Transit conversion, Canteen stop at Lermoos, AustriaFord Transit. Bought new from Hendy Lennox Portsmouth 1970 for export. (Army service) Autohome conversion I think. Light blue, LHD, front bench seat 2 occasional front facing seats, cooker, gas fridge, pumped water to sink. Pop up roof. Large double bed below and two bunks in the roof either side allowing traverse fore and aft. V4 petrol (Saab) 2 litre engine 3 speed Auto gearbox. Solid front axle leaf spring suspension. Served the family well for 6 years; Bavaria also to and from N Germany and Italy and (photo) Austria here on ski exercise. Note BFG plates. Excellent vehicle but bench seat not shaped and aggravated back ache when more than two hours on autobahn in one position. Being a left hooker it was difficult to sell in UK (Gloucester) later, sold below true value about 1977. The whole vehicle proved reliable family transport. Regular servicing and no racing meant it served us well, never froze never boiled and there was lots of opportunity for both.
